KRILLION SCORING EXPLAINED

Krillion scoring, explained.

See how seven answers become a daily score, what each tier is worth, and why your final rating is different from an individual answer’s tier.

How points add up

A daily dive contains seven prompts. Each accepted answer contributes its tier's point value. A missed or unaccepted answer contributes zero. Seven 100-point answers make the maximum daily total: 700 points.

Answer tierPointsWhat it means
Plankton10The first answer that comes to mind.
Too Clever15The famously obscure answer everyone thinks of.
Schooler30A good answer, swimming with the school.
Rare60A less familiar answer. A little deeper.
Deep Cut85An obscure answer from well below the surface.
Krillion100A specially chosen gem at the bottom of the dive.

For example, two Schoolers, three Rare answers, one Deep Cut, and one Krillion add up to 425 points: 30 + 30 + 60 + 60 + 60 + 85 + 100. The day's overall rating is then based on that total.

Your daily rating

Daily totalOverall rating
0–150Plankton
151–250Schooler
251–350Rare
351–449Deep Cut
450–700One in a Krillion

These five daily bands are separate from the six individual answer tiers. There is no Too Clever band for a whole dive. The top daily rating begins at 450 points; you do not need a perfect 700-point run to reach it.

A worked example

Imagine you finish with three Rare answers, two Deep Cuts, one Schooler, and one Krillion. The sum is 180 + 170 + 30 + 100 = 480 points, which falls in the One in a Krillion daily band.

The top rating describes the combined dive. You could arrive there with different combinations, so avoid judging your whole performance by one frustrating prompt.

What the score does not tell you

A tier is not a live percentile. The official FAQ explains how answer sets and rarity are curated; it does not define tier scores as the share of players choosing an answer. If the official game shows a comparison with other players, that is a separate measure.

The highest-value answer is also not guaranteed to be the least-known one. A designated Krillion has a “fun factor” component. See the rarity guide for the reasoning behind that choice.

Check without affecting your game

Our answer checker looks at the saved published sheet for the selected date and prompt. It does not submit an answer, update your official score, or imitate the game's spelling correction.

If an entry is missing from our saved list, we say “not listed.” We cannot infer that the official game will reject it, especially when aliases or later changes may be involved. Your result in the official game remains authoritative.
